Wake your watch, then press and hold the current face to open the face picker. Choose its settings or customization button. The exact button and gestures vary by watch; Google’s guide describes Styles for appearance and Data for complications. Google’s watch-face instructions cover the common controls.
Change the dial or colors
Open the face’s appearance settings and look for the options its creator provides. A choice called Dial might switch between complete backgrounds, while a color option might change only the hands or highlights. Wear OS supports both lists of designs and color themes through the watch-face editor. Android’s personalization guide explains those choices.
Select the option you want and finish the watch’s save or apply step. Return to the face, let it enter always-on mode, then wake it again. Check that the choice remains and that both versions are readable. A different always-on appearance can be deliberate; it should still belong to the selected design.
Change a complication
In the customization screen, choose Data or the complication area you want to edit, then select an available app or data source. Google also documents the permission that lets a face receive complication data. Check that permission if a supported slot cannot receive its data.
The creator decides which parts you can customize. An icon drawn into the background may have no editable slot behind it. Appearance options and complication slots are separate features.
When the option you want is missing
Check the Face-Off listing for another named variant. A separate download can contain a different dial rather than an option inside the installed face.
For changes to lettering or artwork beyond the supplied settings, you need an editable source project and a new build. Installing the same package again will not add a setting its creator did not include. Start with the listing’s download and edit section; keep the original file before making design changes.
If you publish several designs yourself, name the variants and connect each download to its preview so readers can find the one they want.
